Christ The King's Social Apostolate

"Seek the Lord where He may be found".....especially in those who may have need of our help!

Proposed Mission Statement:

Membership in the Social Apostolate of Christ the King Catholic Church is open to all parishioners who desire to accept the challenge to be of service to people who have a need. Through their prayers and actions, members seek to meet the unmet needs of people in the Parish and in Harris County.

The Social Apostolate Program consists of four specific ministries in which parishioners are asked to take an active part.

1. PRAYER MINISTRY
: The foundation of our Parish Program is resting on the prayers of our people. This ministry is open to all parishioners who desire to pray for the people who are serving others and for those who are being served. The Angelus and the Rosary are recited in the Church on each Tuesday at noon for these specific intentions. Some parishioners may desire to pray in their homes, but there is power found in many persons joining together to pray, for Jesus has said:

"Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

2. VISITATION MINISTRY: This ministry is vital to our program. There are persons in their own homes, nursing homes, hospices, assisted living places and hospitals that have a need for a visit from caring individuals. It is appropriate for two (or more) volunteers at a time to make these visits.

3. WRITING MINISTRY: Volunteers may wish to send a card or a written message to the sick, infirm, widowed, to those who have suffered the loss of someone, or to those celebrating special events. A welcome note to new Parishioners and to those who are newly baptized is a part of this ministry. Through this compassionate activity volunteers can bring a spirit of hope and joy to many people.

4. OFFICE MINISTRY: It is hoped that the Social Apostolate Office may be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day. It would be helpful to have two volunteers each day. This ministry requires volunteers who
are willing to answer the telephone and/or give
some of their time to talk with individuals, who may visit Christ the King in search of someone with whom they can converse. Some food distribution may be required. All activity would need to be recorded and kept on file.
